Europe’s second tier tournament returns on Thursday with a huge tranche of games kicking off at an array of times. The early slate on DraftKings gets underway at 6:00pm EST and includes five different games. What follows is a look at the best two players at each position.
Ralf Fahrmann – ($5,000) – Schalke – Fahrmann is by fahr the best value goalkeeper on the early slate and comes into the clash with Nice on a run of four straight clean sheets in all competitions on home soil. The Schalke stopper has conceded just once in the continental tournament, averages 14 fantasy points per game (FPPG) and scored 15 fantasy points in the 1-0 win over Nice earlier in the competition.
David Goresh – ($4,700) – Hapoel Beer Sheva – Goresh managed to keep Inter out in the San Siro for Hapoel’s first win of the Group Stage and plays for a side that could spring another surprise this midweek against an Inter side that has been off form almost all season long.
Abdul Rahman Baba – ($5,600) – Schalke – The former Chelsea full back took a rest for almost all of Schalke’s 1-0 Bundesliga win over Wolfsburg at the weekend and will be ready to continue his fine Europa League form against Nice. Baba averages 14.3 FPPG in the competition and is the kind of attacking full back who prospers within the DK scoring matrix.
Ricardo Pereira – ($5,400) – Nice – On the other of the pitch is another full back who should very much be at the top of your list, Ricardo Pereira. In three out of his four Europa League appearances this season he has hit double figures and the nice thing about Pereira is his points crop up across a range of different categories. In fact, his 5.3 tackles per game is the second-best figure of all Europa League players so make sure you slot him into a couple of your line-ups.
Antonio Candreva – ($8,600) – Inter Milan – Candreva has scored a goal in each of his last two games for club and country and already has one goal in this season’s Europa League. More than his goals, Candreva also crosses the ball an insane amount and had 26 during Inter’s win over Crotone. The winger’s points aren’t reliant on goals or assists and it’s then you realise how easy a pick he is.
Borek Dockal – ($6,900) – Sparta Prague – Dockal has been playing his socks off in the Europa League this season and comes into this game with two assists in his last two appearances. Dockal also averages 3.3 tackles per game in the Europa League, the most of any Sparta Prague player, and hit 18 fantasy points in his side’s 2-0 win over Hapoel Beer Sheva.
Mario Balotelli – ($7,500) – Nice – Super Mario is such a valuable fantasy pick thanks to his performance in two major categories (goals and shots) and one lesser one (fouls drawn). In his last Europa League performance, the Italian centre-forward scored 12 fantasy points thanks in no small part to five shots (three on goal) and six fouls drawn. Whilst he does only have one goal in three Europa League games, Balotelli has six in six games in Ligue 1 and the fact he was rested at the weekend means he’ll be raring to go.
Ishak Belfodil – ($6,300) – Standard Liege – Belfodil has found his form over the last two Europa League clashes, scoring three goals in two games and notching up 27 and 16 fantasy points in the respective fixtures. In what will be a tight game at Celta, Belfodil has the ability to break out and score a winning goal, something that will be vital.
