Fantasy Premier League Picks: Top Targets and Values for January 20th

A featured seven-game Premier League slate is upon us, including a few lopsided matchups worth exploiting on DraftKings. Let’s take a closer look at the top targets at each position along with some value plays to help fit the big guns in.

Sergio Aguero, Manchester City ($10,600) – Aguero leads the line for the biggest favorite on the slate, and he has three goals and an assist over his last three outings. The Argentine took five shots against Newcastle when they met five games ago, and while he was unable to make his mark on the score sheet, he’s in prime position to break through against them at home on Saturday.

Others to Consider – Raheem Sterling, Manchester City ($9,900); Marko Arnautovic, West Ham ($8,400); Alexandre Lacazette, Arsenal ($7,800)

Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Burnley ($6,400) – Gudmundsson continues to feature as Burnley’s primary set-piece taker, and while he finished with just four points at Manchester United on Boxing Day, he’s been relatively consistent otherwise. He’s turned in respectable performances against the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham recently, and he is back home where he’s topped double digits in four straight.

Others to Consider – Danny Welbeck, Arsenal ($6,200); Jordon Ibe, Bournemouth ($6,200); Cenk Tosun, Everton ($5,800)

Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City ($10,800) – De Bruyne was electric in Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Newcastle at the end of December, racking up 20.8 points on six shots, 11 crosses and the game-winning assist. He’s topped double-digit fantasy points in four straight, and a repeat performance could be in order as City look to bounce back in a big way after suffering a 4-3 loss at Liverpool last weekend.

Others to Consider – Leroy Sane, Manchester City ($9,300); Riyad Mahrez, Leicester City  ($9,100); Xherdan Shaqiri, Stoke City ($7,800)

Roberto Pereyra, Watford ($3,000) – Pereyra took over for Tom Cleverley last weekend after Cleverley was forced to exit with a hamstring injury, totaling 5.5 points in 55 minutes of action off the bench. Cleverley is doubtful for Saturday’s match at Leicester, and considering Pereyra took over on corner kicks too, he could emerge as a top value at the minimum salary.

Others to Consider – Matt Phillips, West Bromwich Albion ($5,800); Alex Pritchard, Huddersfield Town ($5,200); Granit Xhaka, Arsenal ($4,500)

Daryl Janmaat, Watford ($4,600) – Janmaat has topped 16 points in back-to-back contests through a collection of peripheral stats across the board. He has four shots and 18 crosses in that span, and the recent surge in attacking opportunities should continue in a mid-table battle at Leicester City.

Others to Consider – Ashley Young, Manchester United ($6,200); Hector Bellerin, Arsenal ($5,600); Aaron Cresswell, West Ham ($4,600)

Nacho Monreal, Arsenal ($3,800) – Monreal could return to the field after nearly a month’s absence due to an ankle injury. With the lack of value defenders at the position, he’s worth keeping an eye out for in the Arsenal starting lineup. He could be a cheap way into an Arsenal defense with a decent shot at a clean sheet in addition to any peripherals Monreal might add.

Others to Consider – Jonjoe Kenny, Everton ($4,100); Marvin Zeegelaar, Watford ($3,600)

Ederson, Manchester City ($6,000) – Ederson was rattled for four goals at Liverpool on Sunday, with Manchester City tasting defeat for the first time in 22 Premier League matches. The Brazilian netminder held Newcastle scoreless when they met four games ago and has a good chance at replicating that 13 point performance when they meet again at the Etihad.

Others to Consider – David de Gea, Manchester United ($5,700); Petr Cech, Arsenal ($5,600)

Nick Pope, Burnley ($4,000) – Pope’s recent game log is dismal, having notched more than two points just once in his last five appearances. Manchester United is generally an opponent to avoid, but playing at home, Pope could have some value here. Burnley pulled off a shock draw at Old Trafford on Boxing Day, and if Pope can keep them in the game with multiple saves he could be in for a big fantasy score.

Others to Consider – Wayne Hennessey, Crystal Palace ($3,900)
