Nacer Chadli’s huge two goal, two assist performance for his new club West Bromwich Albion in a 4-2 win over West Ham was just the tonic for ‘roborob73’ to win the $1,500 top prize in Saturday’s EPL $22K Striker Contest.
The Belgian winger, selected by only 9.9% of players in the day’s largest contest, also put two of his three shots on goal and threw in a cross and interception for good measure on what was a 38.25 fantasy point day at the office.
roborob73’s winning line-up, which won by five fantasy points, was front loaded, the midfield and forwards scoring 126.25pts out of the total of 178. Behind Chadli, Kevin de Bruyne, chosen in the side’s UTIL spot, scored 32.25 fantasy points to back up his Player of the Season aspirations.
Chadli’s compatriot had a goal and an assist, four shots (all of them on target), three crosses, two fouls drawn, two tackles won and four interceptions, but was owned by a whopping 47.2% of line-ups.
The two forwards went off for a combined 53.5pts, de Bruyne’s City team-mate Kelechi Iheanacho (35.3% owned) scoring 23.5pts courtesy of a goal and an assist plus a sprinkling of other points. Alongside him was Michail Antonio (22.8% owned), the West Ham man heading to the top of the Premier League scoring charts after notching his fifth goal of the season. Antonio also had a big eight shots (three on target), four crosses, three fouls drawn and three tackles won.
Back into the midfield, there was more City, Raheem Sterling sitting beside Chadli and scoring 29.25pts thanks to the same goal-assist combo that both his team-mates achieved. As well as that, Sterling had five shots (four on target), three crosses, one foul drawn, one tackle won, and one interception. Sterling was another highly owned player, 31.6% of fantasy managers deciding to pick him in their line-ups.
There was yet more Man City at the very back, Claudio Bravo (15.3% owned) earning 14 fantasy points after making two saves and picking up the win-clean sheet combo. Points were hard to come by at the back, James Collins (3.5% owned) tallying just five fantasy points and Shkodran Mustafi (11.7% owned) hardly doing any better on 5.75pts.
