The ninth Premier League weekend of the season concludes on Sunday afternoon with a tiny two game slate featured both Manchester sides. All the best picks at each position have been talked through in the article below. As always, remember to hit me up on Twitter @JamieHinksDK.
Thibaut Courtois – ($5,100) – Chelsea – Antonio Conte has finally cracked how to manage a Premier League team and his success is playing into the hands of the Belgian ‘keeper. Courtois now has two straight clean sheets and is averaging 12.5 fantasy points per game (FPPG) across those fixtures.
Marcos Alonso – ($4,000) – Chelsea – Alonso has made just two starts for Chelsea but is quickly impressing the Stamford Bridge faithful. The Spaniard is averaging 13.3 FPPG and Chelsea have yet to concede a goal with him on the pitch in the Premier League this season.
Cuco Martina – ($4,000) – Southampton – All of Southampton’s full backs are fantasy worthy yet the only one that will definitely be fit to start is Martina. The Portuguese international will get license to attack against a City side that have been exposed by attacking full backs on a couple of occasions. Even on a four-point outing against Internazionale, Martina still had six crosses and is always good for cross-category performance.
Kevin de Bruyne – ($8,300) – Man City – Ignore De Bruyne’s performance in the Nou Camp from here on in as he was played in an unfamiliar false nine position by Pep Guardiola. In the three Premier League games before that he scored 32, 16 and 22 points, the latter number coming in a draw against Everton where he didn’t need a goal or an assist to get to that total.
Paul Pogba – ($6,600) – Man Utd – In two of his last three Premier League games, Pogba has reached double digit fantasy points and his influence is starting to grow. If that wasn’t enough, Pogba also grabbed a brace against Fenerbahce in Thursday’s Europa League clash. For Man Utd and France combined he averages 10.6 FPPG and is worth a look at this price.
Diego Costa – ($8,200) – Chelsea – No centre forward has scored more times than Costa this season and his seven goals have almost all come in separate games. Costa should also have Willian back for this game, which adds just more weight to the thought that you need Costa in your line-ups on Sunday.
Charlie Austin – ($7,000) – Southampton – The Englishman could only manage five fantasy points against Inter in the Europa League, but that stemmed from the fact he only played 42 minutes. In the games preceding that, Austin had six goals in five games and is lethal when given a chance in front of goal. In a similar way to how Jermain Defoe scored against City on the opening day, I could see Austin’s predatory instincts come through in this game.
